First meetings

It’s kind of weird to me when you meet a bunch of people who already know each other, and you just walk in their place. They know their past & present; whatever they are saying doesn’t really make sense to you, but you are trying at least to engage. (you are not really into it) You are doing this because your friend who invited you and did a nice gesture. You should be thankful and don’t be dick.

I have no problem to chat with any stranger or start conversation but really don’t want it in this stage of life. Because you want to be comfortable with people you know and they know you. I think I’m lazy to share who I am, what I do this and that. I wish everyone shares their attendees list before any meetings, events or house parties. So you don’t have to ask those general questions. We will have more time for deep conversations.

Numbers Don’t Lie: Stories to Help Us Understand the Modern World

This is the most recent book I have read lately, and I enjoyed it a lot. Each story is 2-3 pages and well explained with numbers & graphs. I wish all the books are short chapters like this one. Some interesting story/questions:

  • What happens when we have fewer children?

  • How safe is flying?

  • Who has better insulation?

  • Why chicken rules?

  • Japanese diet

Purchased and read it same day. Check out if you are interested in

Team up

You can’t be perfect for everything. You need to team up with A+ partners to deliver A+ results. How do you convince the best of the best to join you?

Find a mutual goal that is a win-win for everyone. Plus, everyone should get something at the beginning of the relationship. It can be a retainer, sign-on bonus, whatever it is but a big paycheck should be at the end of the tunnel, which can be reached by everyone’s hard work and contributions.

It’s not the same anymore

What you have left is not the same anymore!

I used to stay at the same hotel whenever I go to Marina Del Rey/Venice area. I extended last weekend trip to another day to stay at my old hotel. Unfortunately, the experience was horrible. It looks like COVID hit them so bad. The restaurant is understaffed, and the hotel overall seemed so unorganized because unemployment benefits & checks are the main reason( especially hospitality industry is having a hard time finding people to hire. No one wants to work as long as the state is paying)

I will definitely try other cool & upcoming hotels in my LA trips. Sorry to say but GoodBye, my old friend at Marina Del Rey. We had a good time but time to move on!

L.A. vs SF

Anyone who lives in SF Bay Area comes to LA they all say: “L.A. man, it is nicer. Weather, People, Houses but traffic….”

I don’t like comparison anymore. I did compare it back in time like comparing Turkey vs the U.S.A. or Living Tokyo vs Europe. Honestly, it’s tiring. Enjoy as much as you can where do you live or what do you have. If it’s getting too much, try to change it if you can’t go to another spot.

Hotel Rooms

I’m back to back hotel rooms last two weeks. Last week Hawaii, this week Los Angeles. For some coincidence, we are staying same hotel group’s hotel in both places. Some small details in the room, the experience of communicating with the hotel staff ( valet, room service, check-in/out, reservation of restaurants, etc) are the ones defining the hotel’s brand’s success & integrity. I love the airline & hotel industry. So many great use cases for any type of business venture.

Right thumb

I think the most used part of my body is my fingers. Out of my ten fingers is my right thumb, which is for sure my lifesaver. Lately, when I use my phone a lot, my right thumb finger is getting tired so quickly. What an active life:)

No meaning

Your meaning comes from your work. Not what you said. It is all about what you deliver.

Where have you eaten ? Who were you with? Where have you been so far ? How many countries you’ve visited?

Those answers can’t define who you are. Don’t try to find your meaning with those. Look up yourselves.
