Sometimes it doesn’t work

It doesn’t work out doesn’t mean you need to stop trying again. It means this time is not the right time. Change your approach and try again. It’s fun if you are enjoying the process instead of keep thinking about your outcome.

Let me give you an example from my end. I love reading interesting blogs, books, Wikipedia articles without almost n agenda. And, I do those things every day religiously. Because I can’t wait to get up and learn new things every single day. Does it mean after learning that much knowledge, I win my all battles? Not at all;) But, I f*ckin love my momentum. I feel it! Every night before I go sleep, I know I’m fully lived that day. No matter happens, keep learning!

Industry expert

We went to dinner with my wife today one of our favorite sushi places in our town. However, the place is very hard to find a table. You need to call a couple of weeks in advance to reserve a table. Opentable, Yelp or other online reservation system doesn’t work out for them. Or another option is to show up their front door the time they opened. We did the second option, and it didn’t work out. They said people lined up almost an hour before to eat there. That’s insane to me.

Anyway, my wife asked the guy where is the other place you eat sushi when you do outside of your shop? And he whispered a place only a block away. We went there and voila. The restaurant was empty, and we got a great table. I was in the beginning the skeptical because I never heard their name and we were the only people were dining. Later we had our sushis. Oh my god, their nigiris ( we only eat original sushi it’s called nigiri google it if you don’t know) were amazing. Almost as good as we had in Tokyo. If she didn’t ask the guy who is technically industry expert, we never knew the place. So, people trust the people who are in the industry. Especially the ones who do their work good.

Reality of mortality

The reality of mortality ……. In short, it means we are all going to die.

Whatever we are chasing or it chases us is going to be irrelevant very soon.

This reality actually calms me a lot. It takes all the big pains from my shoulder. And saying quietly in my ear:

“Aykut, be kind to yourself and others. It’ll all pass whatever is uncomfortable to you now. No one is going to stay in here forever. Even the richest/strongest/smartest were all gone! You are mortal, my friend!

Thank you, reality. You are a true and honest friend!

We are so behind. But, it’s ok.

Yes. You might be so far behind in this game. But it’s ok! I know starting from ground zero without nobody’s support is challenging. I had been through the same thing. It’s lonely. It’s sucks.

On the other hand, this is our playground. Your game, your rules. It might takes longer than you think but who cares? You are here for whatever you can achieve at this limited time of period. It’s called LIFE!

Why are we building a software company?

Because we can 🙂 Yeah, I got it. You bunch of coders/hackers/product guys & gals are excited to launch your ideas and get all the traction. ($$$ and downloads) Maybe little bit of fame too? Get interviewed by magazines, invited by students clubs in universities ( unfortunately, nobody is going to come after the talk and take a picture with you, it’s all happening on Zoom)

Seriously why are you building a software company?

In my case, I want to optimize my customers’ time, energy, and money. They shouldn’t do anything manually what our software can easily deliver automatically. That’s it! We are in here to solve their problems.

Ask yourself again, Why are you building a software company?

Doing good

Doing good is definitely great virtue. It feels great. It makes you feel accomplished.
The next level of doing good is not expecting any return from your doing. Just do it for good sake. For eternal love & karma.

Doing gives you authority

You don’t need to ask permission to tell what you know to anybody if you have already done it. Doing gives you authority. You have fieldwork experience, which speaks itself.

On the other hand, the researchers in the university always seeking approval from their professors or schools. That’s why having Ph.D. or MBA won’t give you full authority and confidence. Only doing can do that!

Peer pressure

We are ending up doing things we really don’t want to do it because of peer pressure.

Ask yourself next time when start to do something: “ Am I doing this because I need it or someone is doing it and I must do it to keep my relationship with them? “

Letting go

Life is literally is so short to hold bad feelings in our hearts. I am so peaceful these days. Do you want me to share my secret with you?

I lowered down my expectations from others almost to zero. And if they do something wrong or negative to me, I try to let go as much as I can.
