I went golfing today in the middle of the day. That was totally unexpected. If someone asked me what do u want to do today afternoon, golfing most likely to be the last one. I honestly love Golf Courses. They are beautifully planned and most of them the best location in the areas.
Strong background
Building a strong background is essential to cope with a lot of daily issues. More you know, and experience about any kind of challenges, meeting, and learning about others are going to reshape your mental models. Key is never underestimating what you will learn from anybody. At least you will discover you won’t learn anything from that person. That is why having a strong background is like building a house brick by brick. It takes time, but when it is over. You will know every detail about your house.
Gap Year
We all know what does it mean “Gap Year”. Thanks to 2020. Literally we all postpone everything to next year. Let’s see with this forced Gap Year is going to bring us? I’m very optimistic.
Generation tax
Generation tax: The generation before you, didn’t pay taxes and you have to do it. That’s what I called pretty much if you are doing everything as a first-generation. Such as a being a first college graduate in your nuclear family. Or, someone who has experimenting & experiencing many things as first-timer. It brings so many cons and pros.
It is sometimes too tiring to catch up with your peers while you are paying your generation taxes.
Disappering Passion
Doing work with passion is the most amazing thing that happens to you. However, passion is not itself enough to keep you in the game. You need to see results. Pretty much seeing a light at the end of the tunnel.
Lots of external effects (raising capital or people think that you are doing amazing or working cool company etc ) might keep you push one more day. Still, it is not sustainable. Everything needs to come from YOU. (It doesn’t have to be YOU all do work. Your structure, your organization, your team, your models, etc) As long as you are onboarding new client, new transaction, new deal. You are good. Your passion is fueled by your efforts. It won’t disappear
Thick skin
Whatever is happening to us, it is happening for either reason or not. But that definitely helps us to be more thick skin. Whatever makes you sad back in time, no more hurting you. That’s kinda growing tree. As long as you are surviving, you are golden. One wave to another, life is taking us different coast to coast. I honestly can’t imagine what tomorrow is going to bring us, but I know one thing we our skin will be thicker
One metric
One metric or KPI should be the focus. And, that number should be growing bigger than anything else. It is sooooooo hard to pick that “one metric” when you pick that one just re-design all your onboarding, outreach, marketing, and sales organization for that focus.
July’s Top Books
Walkable City by Jeff Speck. I think I know the value of walking and grabbing your coffee while you are commuting your home to the office more than anybody. This book is sharing so much stats about why walkable cities not just only save people also cities. I lived around 4 years US’s #2 Walkable City San Francisco till last year. San Francisco is I believe the closest “European Standard” in the USA. Still… Anyway, If you are stuck in suburbia and add some walk in your daily routine check out this book.
Billion Dollar Whale by Tom Wright & Bradley Hope. After reading this book, you can easily understand so much “money” in the world. So many places either cleaning or distributing it. Jho Low is definitely a character. We will definitely see this book as a movie very soon. Book sounds to me so much The Wolf of Wall Street while reading then you will discover Jho and his fund actually invested and produced that movie (LOL). This is a book about how government funds in the Middle East and Asia structure, royal and elite families and global party scenes, billion-dollar heist, and many more. “For sure, he enjoyed partying, and he liked having pretty women around, but more than anything this was an investment, one that made him appear successful and indispensable.”(My highlight)
IT’S ALL IN YOUR HEAD by Russ. Russ is not a typical rapper. He is a hustler plus self-motivator plus a very successful businessman. He released 10+ Albums before he climbed the ladder of success. He was pretty much invisible. Before this book, never heard his name or listened to his music. His book apparently turned Instant Best Seller. He is very to the point and sharing his life stories with short and sweet motivational quotes. Definitely an interesting read. Already started to follow him IG. My favorite song of Russ “ What they want”. Check out “My confidence, or cockiness (whatever you want to call it), isn’t fueled by a sense of superiority and it isn’t based on my success. Yes, I believe I’m great, but I believed that when I was a kid making shitty music in my basement—that’s how I got to where I am today. I’m successful because I am confident, not the other way around. (My highlight)

New era of creation
You might already know what I’m going to say. Creators no more rely on fancy studios, producers, MTV, Tour managers, publishing houses etc.
All they need to create. We are hungry for great content especially these days. Everyone at home or stuck in their cities. What do they need to do? Watch, listen, read or participate in new content.
Check this out this video clip: It is made by one man. Yeah, literally one-man show. *

Detour
I watched a movie called “Detour” (1945). It was amazing. Honestly, can’t describe how lucky we are. The time we are living includes crazy ups and downs. However, having access literally anything we want to watch, read, or learn is mind-blowing. Sitting at my couch watching a movie produced 75 years ago is like a time-traveling to me. Maybe I’m exaggerating.
